What’s great about this job? You are able to really use
your technical expertise, as you encounter various challenges that your
customers may present. You aren’t working the typical lab job with the
typical daily routine, now hospital laboratories rely on you to help train
and troubleshoot on various medical or laboratory instrumentation.
Qualifications may vary depending on the type of automated
equipment being supported, some require medical technologist (ASCP)
certification, some histology or immunohistochemistry knowledge, while
others require laboratory experience. All however require an outgoing
individual who enjoys training others, troubleshooting and travel.
These positions offer great opportunities to network with
other professionals in your field. A great job that can lead to numerous
career paths; some possible avenues are technical supervisor, marketing,
account executive, product management or development to name a few.
