Pharmaceutical Sales Not “Real” Sales?
Why do so many in the medical sales arena look at pharmaceutical sales reps as having no real sales experience? It’s a big problem for pharma reps who have gotten caught up in the massive layoffs of the last few years, because when they try to go for a job in, say, medical devices, medical software, or laboratory sales, they’re blocked by “pharma reps need not apply.” (That’s a pretty big hurdle to jump.)
In the video below, I’ll explain why that perception exists by contrasting the sales processes of pharmaceutical sales with B2B sales (which is much more like the sales processes in other health care sales). After you’ve watched it, check out this additional information on how pharma reps can look stronger in the job search. And you can even listen to how one pharma rep transitioned to surgical sales.
