Great questions to ask your new medical or laboratory sales employees about the recruiting process

Maybe this is a part of the onboarding process – just a few questions?

How did you find out about us?
This will affirm that the candidate came from the source that you think.

What were your initial impressions of our company? I have approached candidates about client companies and received less than a warm response about the company. Through education (I tell them about my experiences with the company, what some of my past placements think of the company, why the position is open, why it may look this way or that, etc) I am able to get most of them to change their position to one of a more positive impression. I have met candidates that I think might be perfect for the position and had them tell me that another recruiter told them about the job, and they just aren’t interested. Of course, if someone else has approached them, I am not going to pursue this as I want to deliver unique candidates – but I can tell you that my client has missed some great candidates due to hiring third party recruiters that can’t even pronounce the company’s name correctly.

Is your current impression different than the initial impression?

If so, what changed your opinion or impression……
Why ask these questions? Because the answers could give you an idea about what you, your company, your hiring manager and your recruiter are doing that is right and maybe what you aren’t doing, that you should be doing….
One of my clients was struggling to differentiate themselves with candidates (back when there were fewer candidates), I talked them into a mandatory plant tour for every candidate (they had/have an impressive campus). It was a big seller. The candidates loved it. The client gave the “tour job” to one of their best support/admin folks who was very good at showing off the company. It was a hit.

Maybe there is something that I can help you with?
