As a medical sales recruiter, I get a LOT of resumes.  Way more than I can use to fill the positions I have access to in biotech sales, laboratory sales, pharmaceutical sales, pathology sales, and medical device sales.  How do you get my attention short of glitter-decorating your resume?  (Please don’t do that.) One great way is to have a network.  If I know who you are, or know someone who knows who you are, that goes a long way toward putting you at the top of the pile.  How to (Really) Impress a Headhunter shows you several ways you can make your name known in your business circles.  Along with developing your personal and professional network, you can become involved in conferences, forums, and mentoring, for instance.  Get your name out there so I can find it!
